We are currently selecting some more top calibre support acts for the Weekend 2013.
Keep watching this space for more details soon.

SWAP THE BAND

Here it is - the chance you've all been waiting for! We are pleased to announce the return of Swap The Band for BOTH Holland and Montreal 2013 Conventions.

If you don't know what we're talking about then here is a short explanation.

Basically if you can play any of the instruments that Marillion play, or you can sing - now is your chance to get up on stage and show us.

We 'swap out' a member of the band - let's say Steve Rothery - and you take his place and play a Marillion song along with the rest of the band. We take it in turns swapping out each member.

We have done this at a couple of conventions in the past (way back when) and it was also brilliant fun for the band and the fans!

If you want to be considered you have until December 1st 2012 to email me an MP3 (or send me a You Tube link) of you playing your chosen instrument or singing a song. It doesn't have to be a Marillion cover, it's just for us to gauge how good you are. We will then all sit down and choose some people after this date and we'll be in touch with the lucky winners.

You must already have your tickets for the conventions if you want to take part.

If chosen we'll be in touch and tell you what you'll have to do and discuss the song choices we have for you - but you have to keep it all a secret otherwise it spoils the surprise!

Please send your MP3 or You Tube link to lucy@marillion.com along with your name, gender, age and which convention you want to be considered for.

Many thanks and good luck!

Signing Sessions and Marillion On Site

Will the band be available to sign autographs and pose for photos?

The band will be on site and available most of the weekend to mingle and sign impromptu autographs (although we ask for you to respect their privacy when dining)

Will there be a signing session again this year?

As the signing and photos sessions at the last two Weekends were such a great success we have decided to run the competitions again for 2013.

Prior to 2009 we had long signing sessions which involved lots of queuing for you and repetitive strain injury for the band! In 2009 the band said they wanted to be able to give their very best for the performances in the evening but at the same time not sacrifice the chance to meet with 'The Family' so we changed things a little to ensure that happens.

In previous signing sessions part of what made the process take so long is having items signed AND your photo taken with the band. We realised that some of you only wanted one of these options too. We are also aware that many of you have had the opportunity to have items signed or photos taken on previous occasions and would probably like to give those who haven't a fairer chance of being able to this time.

Therefore we will be running draws for 100 people to win a place in a more personal signing session or 100 people to have your photo taken with the band by a professional photographer.

To be eligible to win a place (for your entire party if there are more than one of you in your booking) you need to send an email with either the word PHOTO or SIGNING in the SUBJECT and your Primary Booking Contact Name and Booking Ref No, email address and no of people in your party in the TEXT body to convention@marillionweekend.com

Please send your entry from 2 July 2012. Closing date 1 February 2013.

All winners will be notified by email by 15 February 2013

Show time - The Venue and Other Entertainment

The stage in the Adventure Factory looks too small and there doesn't appear to be one anywhere else on site, where will the concerts be staged?

As there is no on-site stage/venue large enough for the concerts, we will be erecting a purpose-built concert arena next to the CenterParcs village as in previous Weekends here. It will only be a few minutes walk from your cottage, is heated, and contains well-stocked bars!

Will there be any seating in the concert arena?

Yes there will be limited unreserved seating at the back of the arena, which will be on a first come first served basis.

Will there be a special viewing area for people with special needs (e.g. wheelchair users)?

Yes there will be a clearly marked special viewing area. This will have strict access only by special wristband. Access to this area will be limited to those with genuine need plus ONE additional guest only. Priority will be given to wheelchair users.

You must contact us before 28 January 2013 to be registered for a special access wristband for this area and with any details of what we can do to help you. We will require full details of your disability and any necessary certificates or proof of need. Special cases may be made for circumstances that arise after this date, but you must contact us immediately should your situation change.

Will there be any after-show entertainment this year?

We will plan after-show entertainment in both the Adventure Factory and the Market Place. Both will have alcohol licences until 2am. Further details to follow.

Will smoking be allowed in the Main Hall or other bars?

In accordance with Dutch Law there will be NO smoking allowed inside all public areas of CenterParcs. There will be designated smoking areas outside the buildings and you can smoke in your cottages.

The Racket Records Merchandise Shop

Will there Marillion and Racket Records merchandise available?

Yes. We will be bringing the majority of our online catalogue PLUS the usual range of new merchandise to debut at the Weekend, and the popular "bargain bin" of discounted ex-stock items that are no longer on sale through our website.

Merchandise from Support Bands will also be available through the shop if they choose to provide it.

Will Marillion merchandise be cash only?

We expect to have credit/debit card facilities available. Payment in cash will be in Euros and card payments will be taken in Euros too.

Will there be long queues at the merchandise shop?

Hopefully not - we have a eager and willing team of merchandisers ready and able to serve!

Marillion Museum

A special attraction at all Marillion Weekends is the Marillion Museum. Lovingly put together by Andy Rotherham of The Web UK, with contributions from Marillion, Racket Records and fans, the Marillion Museum beholds an exhibition of items from the early days of the band right up to the present day.

Every year the Marillion Museum reveals long forgotten treasures and Andy is determined to better it this time around! If you have any favourite items from past Marillion Museums that you would love to see again, suggestions for new exhibits or unique items in your own collection - particularly connected to Radiation - that you are willing to lend for the weekend please contact
