Your Letters

I would like to thank the band for making the effort to come over and play for your North American fans. I live in North Caroline and have travelled to Pittsburgh and Washington DC in the past, but nothing compared to making the trip to Montreal for the entire weekend. The shows were fantastic each and every night!

Just as significantly, I met many people from all over the world who I can now call my friends. That is a very positive, powerful side to your concerts that should not be underestimated.

Charles Kellum - North Carolina USA

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the good music, energy and passion you and the band showed
It was an unforgettable weekend I love the band and hope you will play soon in South America, In Montreal I found guys from Brazil, Venezuela; I know from another guy from Peru who went to the show, I am sure you have a nice fan base in this part of the world so come soon !!

Jose Rios Montagne - Peru

Hey Guys and everybody on your team that helped make Montreal work! I’m just writing to give a BIG THANK YOU!! for the wonderful time I had in Montreal. So many highlights, but OOTW and AOS just blew me away!

I’ve been a fan for 20+ years, but never had the chance to see you live before and the shows surpassed my greatest expectations. Please come back to North America soon, so I don’t have to wait another 20 years ? or even another two years!

Edward Bromley

I just wanted to say a warm thank you to you for coming over and making The Montréal Convention so special for all of us in North America! The genuine feeling of family that surrounds Marillion starts with you. Every night was wonderful, and once again it was great to see so many familiar faces, and to meet so many new ones.
I hope it can be sooner than two years before another North American event. Either way as a band you made it very special for all of us. Extra special thanks to Lucy and crew for giving 100% to make this happen.

Jim Catizone - Pennsylvania USA

I knew the concerts would be good, but nothing prepared me for just how incredible the weekend was. Particularly the 3rd night where you played all the epic long songs - which I'm guessing is not a set list you would do on a normal concert venue.

Add to that the way you all came out and met your fans, made it a truly special weekend.

Phil Shoore

All I can say is they were 3 great shows, plus the venue was spectacular. Excellent sound in there. Thank you for making my 40th something special and certainly a time I will never forget. Oh, in addition I was particularly excited when I saw my two year daughter (when the Marillion beanie cap on) appear on the screen behind the stage before you guys came on. That was awesome as well. You guys certainly really do make it feel like a family......

Dave Wilson - New Jersey USA

I'm a long-time fan, but had only seen you live once, about oh, 20 years ago, was it? Well, let me tell you, I sure won't miss you guys again. I absolutely adored the energy you brought to your music and, just as importantly, the dedication you showed your fans.

This was, with no doubt in my mind, the best performances I've ever seen by any band. I still get goosebumps thinking back to "Afraid of sunlight".

Kudos to you, and thanks again.

Daniel Lesage - Canada

Montreal was my first live Marillion experience and I now see what everyone talks about when the subject of the convention comes up: 3 jaw dropping performances and the development of numerous friendships.
Thank you for a truly memorable weekend. I'm still re-living it.

Eric Walker - Kansas City, Missouri USA

This was my first Marillion event. My boyfriend “Rosie” had been coaching me for 3 years on all of the music, dvds, the book and stories – Including taking Pete to the Windmill in Bridgeport, CT (a major dive of a bar/restaurant)

The show was incredible. I’ve only heard of musicians and bands who sound better live, but had yet to experience it until now. Everyone was just incredible, the emotions and strength of the band just defies explanation.
I’ve enjoyed my Marillion education, and now have my own memories to add to the experience. It’s impossible to convey all the thoughts and emotions this weekend conjured up, yet a simple thank you is just not enough.

Cathrine Machalski - Bridgeport Connecticut USA

A huge thank you for your outstanding generosity, for playing with so much heart, soul and energy at the Montreal weekend!! Your music and performance brought me pure joy, happiness and bliss! It is such a relief for us fans to be able to express our gratitude, love and appreciation to you for all the absolutely outstanding music you have created over the years by applauding and cheering as loud as we possibly can! My husband and I, and our friends who were with us, we all left the weekend so completely fulfilled and with our hearts bursting with love and gratitude for all that you gave us those three nights. Your performance was stellar, every song was brought to life with a power and beauty only you can create... I am still very emotional about it, it will take a long time to come back to earth.

Pascale Bellon-Gagnon - Québec Canada

In what must be one of the most unusual moments in Marillion concert history, h lowered himself onto the crowd, who shuffled him around to the back of the theater before he signalled for them to return him to the stage, while the band continued to hold down the fort. Everyone at that moment knew they were witnessing something very special. This gig was becoming more and more memorable as the minutes went on. The song eventually finished and once again the crowd drowned out the sound of everything in the world.

Lorne Murphy

I wanted to give you a big thanks for the most wonderful weekend of my life. I’ve been obsessed with Marillion for 24 years, but this was the first time I’ve ever seen you all live. It was better than I ever expected and was truly magical. I waited in line since 1pm for every show and it was well worth it. Thanks for also being so friendly after the shows and talking to me like I was an old friend.

David Howard

Just wanted to say thank you all so much for doing this for us over here in NA. It was without doubt the best three days of music I've ever heard in my life - beating out the 9 Radiohead shows which were in my top 5 shows ever seen. Actually Sunday was truly the most amazing live show I've ever seen by any band in my 1000s of shows I've seen over the past 25 years.

TSE though fraught with problems was the single most memorable live experience I've ever had - from the frustration, to h passing over top of me and back - to the band maintaining their poise throughout and ultimately the reaction from the crowd - it was unlike anything I've ever seen at a show and I doubt I will ever see anything like it again. It was pure magic which had me in tears by the end..which was the only time in my life I've cried at a concert.

Darrin Cappe

This was an incredibly special event for us, and quite simply the best concert experience either of us have EVER had. We were in awe, and we are still pinching ourselves to be sure what we experienced was real! Amazing. We didn't think it possible to be any more of a Marillion fan than each of us already were, but it definitely is. We walked away from the convention forever changed as a result of your offerings.

David and Robin Burr - Seattle WA USA

Thank you so very much for everything you did to make this past weekend one of the most memorable events of my life. I have no voice left from all of the screaming, my hands hurt from the clapping, but I keep remembering the total elation I felt for three straight nights. I am coming up on 25 years of following the Band and I am now a bigger fan than ever.

Jerry Bonnabeau

The entire weekend was a diehard’s dream come true. You looked and sounded perfect, the lighting was incredible, the sound system was fantastic, the songs played couldn’t have been picked better, the venue was the ideal location, and on and on… All the stars aligned this weekend perfectly and so exceeded my expectations in every way possible.

The energy was absolutely amazing. Watching the audience feed off of the band, and then the band feed off of the audience, and then back and forth again was merely incredible. In all my years of concert going and music loving I have never seen such a connection between the audience and the performers. This truly is a family, connected in a way that outsiders simply cannot grasp, and there are simply no words to describe this feeling. When non-listeners hear that people like myself will travel hundreds of miles to see a “band” perform, I think they believe that we’re slightly crazy. They just don’t get it; they couldn’t possibly understand it without being a part of it, without being connected with the music. The most overwhelming part is that the entire connection, that entire feeling, is completely and totally genuine from both sides. It’s just so obvious how genuine it is. I’m not usually one to reference lyrics in this manner but those lines from the refrain in “Neverland” were so perfectly sung at the right moment because that’s all that was felt throughout the entire place – love. It was completely jaw dropping to witness.

I cannot applaud you more. You guys are the epitome of what this whole musical love thing is all about. For the twenty years that I’ve followed your work with a true passion for the music, you have done everything right: you have never sold out, you have never strayed from the path, you have always given it your all, you have always stayed true to yourselves, and so on. It’s even more impressive considering that by rights you should really be the standard by which all other bands and music should be judged.

I’ve been a true diehard fan since 1989 and I truthfully would never have thought back then that I’d be here today writing this note, or that I would have traveled from Minnesota to Montreal for something like this past weekend’s festivities.

Johnathon Wilde - Minnesota USA

Thank you for the most unforgettable weekend of my life. And please come back - soon.
